Interior painting involves more than just applying paint. We meticulously prepare every surface, including ceilings, walls, baseboards, moldings, doors, and other trim surfaces, to ensure a clean, durable, and long-lasting finish. This thorough preparation work is crucial for achieving a beautiful and brilliant look.
Many Santa Barbara homes still have existing oil-based paint on their surfaces (especially on existing trim surfaces). Applying water-based or latex paint directly over oil-based paint will lead to poor adhesion issues. Special preparation work is required to transition from oil-based paint to water-based paint. The sequence needed for this transition involves degreasing, heavy sanding, and an application of a complete coat of oil-based primer. The oil-based primer will adhere to the existing oil-based surface and then allow water-based paint to adhere to it. This primer acts like a bridge between products. This is necessary to prevent your new paint from peeling and ensure durability.
Ceilings can make a significant impact when painted correctly. We prefer a “dead-flat” finish as it hides imperfections and blends seamlessly. Protecting adjacent surfaces like flooring, furniture, and fixtures is a priority, ensuring a spotless finish without drips or overspray.
For interior walls, we prioritize durability and quality. Our careful selection of products and meticulous application practices guarantee a beautiful, long-lasting result. We take the time to understand your needs and recommend the best products for each room, ensuring your satisfaction. Long gone are the days of needing to place a semi-gloss sheen inside your bathroom or kitchen. Paint chemistry and manufacturing have come a long way in recent years and now allow for a flat sheen inside these areas (if this is preferred). Moisture, adhesion, or clean-ability issues are eradicated with these new materials. During our free consultations, we will help you decide on the appearance you are looking to achieve.
Interior trim work, including baseboards, crown molding, and wainscoting requires precise preparation. Our process involves degreasing, sanding, filling installation nail holes, repairing damaged surfaces, priming raw materials (and existing oil-based surfaces), and then caulking transitional gaps to create a flawless finish. The type of paint depends on the surface itself, but we always use premium paint products to ensure a long-lasting finish.
Removing wallpaper is sometimes part of transitioning a room into a new era. Our team carefully removes wallpaper through different methods (depending on how the existing wallpaper is currently glued). This could entail dry scraping, applying warm water, scratching the surface to allow for water penetration, or applying adhesive-loosening chemicals. After drywall/plaster surfaces are repaired (if needed), we apply a complete coat of primer. This approach guarantees a smooth surface ready for painting.
